Approval Rating
There is a great challenge for those in ministry in 2nd Corinthians 10: 12-13.
As you are reading this, I have a question for you. Consider your ‘approval’ rating from the last weekend. The question we need to ask ourselves is how much glory did God receive from you this weekend? Not based on the comparative quality of your sermon, not the quality of your pulpit presence, not the quality of great spiritual insights from your study, but the submission you gave to God in your life and leading.
This passage says God receives glory when those you serve see and hear your true confession of the gospel, not just by word of mouth but by action of life. While your confession and contribution are both directed to those who you’ve had the opportunity to minister to this weekend the focus and centrality is to bring glory to God.
Don’t let your performance failures or successes be the gauge by which you look at yourself. They may or may not have stood and applauded and throw roses and money at you…they probably did neither! Did all you do point to an accurate and absolute confession and contribution to the glory of God? If so, then you were you did a great job!
